Frances Hanley

Comprehensively Trained Pilates Instructor

Always interested in movement, sports and fitness, Frances embraced Pilates and Functional Training as a tool to help keep herself and her broad cross-section of clients active and injury free.  She enjoys working with competitive athletes as well as more mature clients.  She obtained an Advanced Pilates Mat certification in 2011 and recently completed her comprehensive Advanced training through Stefanie O’Rourke. Frances is a Certified Personal Trainer and Functional Specialist through the American Council on Exercise (ACE)  and holds several other certifications to help her clients get the most out of her fitness guidance.

She especially enjoys working with members and families of the military community and applies her fitness expertise to help them deal with the unique stresses of military service. As the spouse and mother of both active and retired veterans, she has witnessed the ability of the Pilates System in helping her family stay strong, active and injury free. Frances currently uses her Pilates and functional techniques to train the US Naval Academy Golf and Hockey teams and has trained members of the Rugby, Women’s Marathon and other teams to achieve higher success in their competitions with demonstrable results.

Frances is available for mat and apparatus classes, and she also sees private clients at Chesapeake Pilates. In addition, she coordinates and organizes classes and personal training for the Brigade Sports Complex. She takes a comprehensive and wholistic approach to her clients to find the best routines for their fitness level and goals. Frances believes Pilates truly is for everybody, and enjoys the challenge of teaching all levels, ages and abilities.

A graduate of Neumann University, Frances resides in Annapolis with her husband.
